Yvet Steelbriar // Rava Viera

Yvet was once a salve-maker, a practitioner of Vieran alchemy, which differs from both the Hannish and Ul'dahn traditions. For nearly 40 years the physical and spiritual/mental health of her village was her responsibility. Antidotes for poisons and diseases, salves for common household injuries, and also the special concotions used during holy days or ceremonial traditions. As such, most of her days involved foraging for the necessary ingredients - Wind Wander Enclave was a remote location with many rare and wonderful reagents, many of which did not retain their potency beyond a day or two. At her side as always was her Wood Warder, Gunnar. Jacks of Wind Wander Enclave practice their own alchemical traditions, most of which involve the manufacture of assorted intoxicants used in spiritual endeavors ... and also simply because they enjoy the effects. Gunnar had consumed a particular favorite and was happily enjoying the high, some four decades before the most recent Calamity, when a left became a right and another right and then a left and then -- quite by accident, Gunnar found himself Outside. And while comical, it was still disastrous, as The Green Word brooked no manner of excuse, especially "because I got high". Yvet could hardly leave him to his own devices, especially Outside, and went into exile with him.

The pair lived in Rabanastre for many years, as it was the closest civilization by way of their exit of Golmore Jungle. There they were able to acclimate to their new lives and trafficking with the other races of the star, and learn some of the politics they had been ignorant of, by and large because of the Garlean occupation of the city. Avoiding the destruction of Rabanastre by Garlemald by only a scant few months, the pair lingered for a while in the Far East and then Thavnair, before arriving in Eorzea in the wake of the Seventh Umbral Calamity.
